JOB OVERVIEW:
In order to maintain and protect the safety and health of our Nation members during COVID-19, Driftpile Cree Nation is looking to hire Security Officers to restrict unauthorized entry onto the Nation. The Nation is looking for Security Officers to patrol and monitor designated checkpoints on the Driftpile Cree Nation reserve. The individuals will be required to work a 12-hour a day (8pm-8am or 8am-8pm), 7 days on, 7 days off rotation and work in groups of two. One individual will need to provide a vehicle and will be compensated accordingly. The Security Officers will be required to report to the Security Manager on a daily basis and log all activity.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guard and monitor checkpoints to prevent unauthorized entry onto the Nation
- Check persons and ensure they are allowed authorized entry
- Report all activities to Security Manager as per manager’s schedule
- Attendance at tailgate meetings
- Provide written reports to Security Manager
- Wear PPE and take all health and safety precautions to protect yourself and Nation members
- Sanitize any shared work equipment
- Controls traffic by allowing only authorized persons onto reserve

This individual will be responsible for reviewing and reporting to the Education Director on our current Student Information System (SIS), researching compatible SIS and providing a detailed report their findings and making recommendations on a path moving forward.

BUS COORDINATOR
SUMMARY:
Plans, directs, coordinates and oversees all functions pertaining to the operations and maintenance of the Driftpile Cree Nation School Buses. The prime concern is safe, efficient, economical transportation of students between home and school on a regular schedule, and between other destinations within or outside the Nation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily student transportation and fleet maintenance operations
- Supervise general maintenance program with specific attention to safety inspections
- Establish performance standards and supervise operational care, service and maintenance of all school buses within the department
- Establish all regular bus routes, schedules and stops and maintain routing software to develop route maps for drivers, school, etc. as appropriate

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Emergency Management Coordinator will provide high-level project coordination, and the development of culturally safe and sustainable disaster response/recovery resources. This position requires strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, superiors, communities, and health service partners and organizations.
The Emergency Management Coordinator will work to improve community safety and security by addressing the following four areas:
- Mitigation and Prevention: Involves activities which reduce or eliminate the effects of an emergency or disaster.
- Preparedness: Actions taken prior to an emergency or disaster to ensure an effective response. This includes community education, emergency information, training, preparing plans, operation centers and communication systems.
- Response: Involves actions taken to respond to an emergency.

- Facilitate and coordinate development of Nation based Collaborative Emergency Management Agreements;

- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with the Municipal & Regional District Emergency Management sector, external agencies, as well as Provincial entities;

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Medical Transportation Driver
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Driftpile Cree Nation is currently looking to fill the full-time position of Medical Transportation Driver. Reporting to the Health Director, the mandate of the Program will assist the Treaty of the Driftpile First Nation to access medical treatment or intervention in a timely and manner. Under the direct supervision of the Medical Transportation Services Program Manager, the Medical Services Branch and the Community Health Services. As well ensure that Band policies directly related to the program are followed. This position will ensure a high standard and quality of services are delivered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Using a Driftpile First Nation transportation vehicle, ensure that the vehicle is kept in a respectable and clean condition
- All transporting vehicle mechanical inspections, maintenance, work orders must be pre-approved by the Medical Transportation Services Manager or the Health Director
- Must call the office to report of any sudden changes during client transportation
- Ensure that the client meets the scheduled appointments on time by allowing ample time to and from their destinations
- Monitors the client behaviours and keeps journal for reference
- Reports to the Director immediately of any vehicle accidents or mishaps
- Must be responsible and alert during transportation
- Must phone the on-call worker, if the weather is unpredictable and unsafe to travel. The driver uses independent judgement in extenuating circumstances such as client encountering problems during travel
- Consultation will take place by phoning the office during the work day and/or after hours on-call worker
- Assign appropriate transportation for emergencies i.e. break down
- Monitors client compliance to attending scheduled appointments and does incidental reports on incidents and submits to the Director
- Any related duties that may be assigned by the Health Director
- Perform any additional health care support as required

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Driftpile Cree Nation requires a seasonal part time forestry technician or equivalent to review General Development Plans, Detailed Forest Management Plans, become involved in cut block lay out programs with West Fraser. The role of the Driftpile Forestry Technician is to compare Driftpile’s traditional use information and to engage with Driftpile band members to identify traditional use sites that may vary from medicinal, spiritual, cultural, hunting, fishing and trapping sites utilized by the band members. You will utilize a GPS to record and input into ARCGIS system as well as to understand mapping, land locations and other materials as presented by both the proponents and Driftpile Cree Nation.
This is a short term contract position. In 1996, First Nations Chiefs and the Federal Minister of Health signed a Co-Management Agreement (HCoM) which allows for jointly assessing, analyzing and managing the allocation for First Nations and Inuit Heath Branch-Alberta Region. Over the last 10 years, the Co-Management Agreement has come to life and has led to the development of an extensive structure. The most recent review has recommended a streamlined structure with clearer accountibility and greater decision-making for First Nations
SUMMARY
The HCoM Coordinator will be coordinating the work of the Alberta Co-Management Committee and its existing sub-committees. The Contribution Agreement holder, specifically the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta, will assume management responsibility for the functional operation of the Health Secretariat office. Further, any direction pertaining to Co-Management will be provided by the Co-Management Co-Chairs and appointed Chiefs of Co-Management.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the coordination of meetings for the Co-Management Committee and the sub-committees including ensuring the timelines and quality of the materials produced by the Secretariat (e.g. agendas, briefing and minutes)
- Establish and Implement Internal processes including the requisite templates, procedures and protocols
- Establish and Implement a communications strategy for Co-Management
- Promote the Co-Management structure
- Preparing briefing notes and reports for Co-Management participants
- Facilitate discussions and dialogue with First Nations organizations, as directed by Co-Management
- Facilitate liaison with external government and non-government partners, as directed by Co-Management
- Work closely with the HCoM Liaisons and the HCoM subcommittee co-chairs
- Coordinate training to Co-Management members, as directed
- Plan, organize, direct and control the long term, general and day to day operations, including preparatino of the documents required (e.g. annual work plan, quarterly and monthly reports)
- Prepare the Co-Management annual report for submission at All Chief's meetings
- Supervise staff, and perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a degree in the health or administration fields; a combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills will be accepted
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent presentation, public relations, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, managerial and administrative skills and work experience
- Well developed planning, organizing, controlling and negotiation, bargaining and decision-making skills and work experience
- Ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of common word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software
- Good working knowledge of budgeting and bookkeeping
- Understanding of work requirements in a committee structure
- Must possess the ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing projects and deadlines
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Alberta
- Experience working with First Nations leadership
- Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions
- Knowledge of First Nations health programming and current issues
- Ability to speak a First Nations language would be an asset

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Driftpile Cree Nation is currently looking to fill the position of Housing Director. Under the direction of the CAO, the individual assists in the management of housing projects, housing programs, policy development, updating of housing databases for the Nation, housing maintenance and the management of DCN housing. The Director is responsible for the supervision of the Housing administration, carpentry crew and maintenance workers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Infrastructure Management – Plans, prioritizes, coordinates, directs and evaluates housing.
- Planning – Oversees and participates in the development and administration of annual operating budgets and approves forecasts of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies
- Prepares contracts on a broad range of activities. Oversees the work of contractors in accordance with the terms and conditions of approved contracts.
- Prepare, amend and/or update housing policy
- Negotiate services with other government agencies that pertain to the Housing Department
- Applies for grants and writes proposals for additional funding
- Ensure that all administrative paperwork such as purchase orders, travel claims, timesheets, and logs are maintained and/or processed in a timely and accurate manner
- Assess nature of housing concerns or problems, ie. Plumbing, painting, electrical, flooring, windows etc.
- Provide maintenance on all DCN homes in a timely fashion
- Ensure that estimates/quotes on materials; forecast cost for materials and labour cost for project are completed by the appropriate professional
- Ensure delivery of materials and supplies to the job site
- Ensure time management on project completions
- Participate with other Directors on the DCN management team to develop strategies and plans for initiatives that are inter-program related in nature including attending Director meetings
- Assist CAO, Chief and Council with strategic planning and develop new strategies as requested
- Performs other related duties as required
SKILLS:
- Ability to provide effective leadership through management, supervision and direction to facilitate a comprehensive community infrastructure maintenance and operation program.

Qualifications

- Relevant knowledge of government acts, regulations, codes, standards and resulting guidelines

- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite work processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and database application and e-mail.

Driftpile Cree Nation is seeking an individual to fill the position of an Income Assistance Worker.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be client service oriented, respectful and able to work effectively as part of a team to deliver services to families and individuals accordance with regulations and policies governed by the Driftpile Cree Nation.
Using a solution focused and strength based approach the successful candidate will be assessing eligibility for financial assistance, make referrals to other program departments and outside agencies, prepare written correspondence, Focus is to reduce or eliminate the client's need for income support benefits and services, focus on multi barrier clients requiring clients support. Primary group is expected to work clients and working clients, dependants of expected to work and working clients, including clients 18year old's not in school or working. Balancing workload pressures in order to meet deadlines. You will be required to access, input and retrieve information while learning the data system 360.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of multiple perspectives, interviewing skills, understanding of the impacts of poverty, and the principals of social work. The ability to conduct client interviews and evaluate and integrate these details into case planning. The successful candidate will have the ability to organize and record information and maintain a positive relationship with clients. The candidate must be able to multitask and work in a fast pace environment. Furthermore, this candidate would be able to oversee some functions of the overall program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful candidate should have a minimum of a social work diploma or related experience in Human Services.
- A clear CPIC and CWIS.
- The ability to work full time from 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday.
- Extensive knowledge of community resources, knowledge of social barriers, employment and training programs.
- Case planning to identify realistic and attainable goals.
